Main Reasons Animals End Up In Shelters
- Biting
- Dogs are often taken to shelters because they have bitten a member of the family. This can be prevented by proper training when they are young.
- Moving
- Sometimes people move and cannot take their dog with them. The home that they are moving to might not allow dogs. They may be moving in with a roommate who is allergic to pets or maybe they don’t want them in his or her place. There are also cases of people moving into a new house and not wanting to bring their dog along with them so as to keep it clean
- Not Enough Time
- Many people start putting things over there dog, thus neglecting them. Or children push their parents to get a dog and promise to take care but become interested in other things. Which leave the overwhelmed parents to take care of the dog.
- Cost of Ownership
- Between buying food and toys, vet bills, and grooming, pets can be expensive, especially if they have special needs or health issues.
- Allergies
- If someone in the household acquires an allergy to pets, they usually end up in shelters. Or if a significant other moves in and is allergic or if a baby is born and develops an allergy towards pets.
